# lunarchia.com: the Order of Lunarchia

> lunarchia.com is Brad Anderson's interactive fiction site for the Order of Lunarchia, a made-up order that reveres the Moon: a recruiting site, 'leaked' internal documents, a hymn, a pamphlet and a glossary, built on real facts about the Moon with an invented doctrine on top. It shares a universe with simulacria.org and his novel Coherence.

lunarchia.com is the site of the Order of Lunarchia, a made-up order that reveres the Moon. Its line is "We observe, we calculate, we receive, we reflect. The Moon is watching. It has always been watching. And something wonderful is coming." It's fiction I wrote, part of the same universe as simulacria.org and my novel Coherence.

The doctrine starts from three real facts. The Moon is about 400 times smaller than the Sun and about 400 times closer, which is why total eclipses happen. When the ascent stage of Apollo 12's lunar module was crashed into the Moon, the seismometer the crew had left behind recorded the Moon ringing like a bell for about 55 minutes. And the Moon is tidally locked, so it always shows us the same face. On top of those the Order builds its own story: a Long Dark before the Moon, a signal at 0.0023 Hz, and an Arrival that's coming.

The site has the recruiting pages (the Truths, the Signal, the Path, the Reflection, the Arrival), a hymn, a pamphlet, a glossary of the Order's language, "intercepted" internal documents about its hierarchy (the Awakened, the Resonators, the Receivers, the Math-Keepers, and a council of four elders called the 400), printable stickers and flyers, and a signal-calibration page. Ciphers and hidden links run through it for people who look.

The two sites know about each other. The Division of Reality Coherence on simulacria.org keeps an open case on the Order, and the Order warns its members not to take the Division's screening. The 0.0023 Hz signal is the same one the Order of the 400 tracks in Coherence. The facts the Order cites are real; its conclusions are not.
