# Brad Anderson - Professional Background

I've been building software professionally for over 25 years — starting in the Flash and multimedia era, evolving through enterprise desktop applications and mapping platforms, and now focused on AI orchestration and multi-agent systems.

## What I Do Now

I'm a Lead Software Engineer and Manager at Genpact (since November 2025), and independently I'm building MXF — the Model Exchange Framework — a TypeScript-native platform for orchestrating multiple AI agents with real-time communication, persistent memory, and custom protocols. MXF is where my career has been pointing the whole time: distributed systems, protocol design, real-time messaging, and complex architecture, applied to the most interesting problem domain I've encountered in two decades.

My core focus is intelligent system architecture — designing systems where AI agents coordinate on complex tasks through structured communication protocols, tool integration, and adaptive behavior loops. This isn't prompt engineering. It's systems engineering applied to AI: WebSocket messaging, custom wire protocols (MXP 2.0 achieves 60-80% token reduction), control loops (ORPAR), memory persistence, and the kind of plumbing that makes multi-agent collaboration actually work in production.

## Technical Expertise

TypeScript is my primary language and has been for years. I write it everywhere — frontend, backend, tooling, scripts. Type safety isn't a preference, it's a requirement when you're building systems where agents make autonomous decisions.

My stack and strengths:

- **TypeScript/JavaScript** — deep expertise across the full stack, strict typing, modern patterns
- **Frontend** — Vue.js, React, vanilla JS, Tailwind, direct DOM manipulation. I've built SPAs with strict data management requirements for over a decade.
- **Backend** — Node.js, Hono, Express, WebSocket servers, REST and custom protocol APIs
- **Distributed systems** — real-time messaging, state synchronization, edge computing
- **Mapping and geospatial** — extensive production work with Google Maps, Mapbox, WebGL, D3.js, GeoJSON manipulation, custom rendering layers

I've done the full lifecycle more times than I can count — architecture, development, deployment, maintenance, and the hard conversations about technical debt.

## Career Arc

The through-line of my career is building interactive, real-time systems that handle complexity gracefully. The technology has changed dramatically — from ActionScript and Flash to TypeScript and AI agents — but the core problems haven't: state management, real-time communication, user experience under constraint, and making complex systems feel simple.

### Current: Genpact (2025–Present)
Manager and Lead Software Engineer. Came here through an ASGN restructuring that affected my previous employer.

### CyberCoders / ASGN (2022–2025)
Lead Software Engineer for nearly four years. This is where I transitioned fully into AI-focused development and began building MXF.

### Terradatum → Lone Wolf Technologies (2014–2022)
Almost eight years as Lead Software Engineer — most of that time at Terradatum, which was purchased by Lone Wolf Technologies near the end. My boss there was Richard Bellamy, who I still talk to every Sunday. Built production mapping applications, complex SPAs, and real-time data systems for the real estate technology sector. Deep work with Google Maps, Mapbox, WebGL, GeoJSON, and D3.js. This is where I developed my expertise in handling strict data management requirements in single-page applications.

### HOMER Energy (2012–2014)
Senior UI Developer. Desktop development in C# .NET (WPF) for energy modeling software. Worked across Flex, ActionScript, JavaScript, HTML5, with Protocol Buffers and AMF for data transport. Hybrid energy systems modeling — technically demanding, data-intensive work.

### Northrop Grumman (2012–2013)
Senior Software Developer. Desktop and mobile development for defense applications. Flex, ActionScript, JavaScript, HTML5.

### The Weather Channel (2004–2006, 2009–2011)
Two stints as a Desktop Internet Application Developer. Built interactive weather applications across HTML5, JavaScript, ActionScript, Flex, AJAX, .NET, Java, and PHP. The Weather Channel was doing rich internet applications before most companies knew what that meant. My boss during one of those stints was Randy — I called him "Pants." He's still a close friend.

### Freelance and Contract (2000–2014)
Fourteen years of overlapping independent work alongside full-time roles. Desktop, mobile, and web development across JavaScript, HTML5, C# .NET, Flex, ActionScript, PHP, MySQL, SQL, Java. This is where I learned to ship — no committee, no safety net, just solve the problem and deliver.

A thread people don't expect: I did a significant amount of freelance and contract work for the cattle industry — mapping and geospatial platforms, data and livestock management systems, and web applications. It's a surprising intersection, but the problems were real and technically demanding.

### Earlier Career (2000–2008)
The multimedia and Flash era. I cut my teeth building interactive applications at companies like Applied Theory (clients included Intel, Coca-Cola, Cinnabon), Silverpop Systems, Media1st (e-learning), Whats Up Interactive (game development), Sidereus Group, MaxMedia Design, IQ Interactive, and Flypaper. ActionScript, Flash, Flex, AIR, DHTML, PHP, .NET, game development, CMS systems, interactive multimedia — the whole spectrum of what "web development" meant before the modern era.

## How I Work

I've worked remotely for about 90% of my career — long before remote work was normalized. Company locations on a resume don't tell you where I was living. Strong communicator, comfortable working independently or coordinating with distributed teams. I don't need to be managed; I need to understand the problem and have the autonomy to solve it.

My approach is practical over theoretical. I've seen enough architectural astronautics to know that the best system is the one that ships, works, and can be maintained by the next person who touches it. I care about type safety, clear abstractions, and honest documentation — not because they're fashionable, but because I've maintained enough code to know what happens when you skip them.

I live in the Carson National Forest near Taos, New Mexico at 7,500 feet elevation. The isolation is deliberate — fewer distractions, better thinking, and I get to be surrounded by piñon-juniper woodland instead of strip malls.
